Photography for Social Media

Writer: David B TownsendDavid B Townsend

If you are using Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, or any other social sites to promote your restaurant, especially if you want to promote 'daily specials', you probably need a dedicated place in house to do you shots with adequate lighting. The last thing you want is an off-color, under-lite plate of food which does nothing to entice one to stopping by.

A simple cutting board and black backdrop add drama if set up with proper lighting.

If you were to create a dedicated area of your kitchen, office, or somewhere that can be preset with good lighting and offer a variety of backdrops, you could plate the food, and shoot within a few minutes. The key is to have a light-box or tabletop light set up to accomplish the task, without having to assemble or move anything.

I can help create a small work area for this to happen.
